Ban Prescribed Mind Drugs for Children !

by admin

Ritalin is one of the drugs prescribed for hyperactivity disorder known as ADHD.  It is a stimulant for the central nervous system more potent than caffeine but is being prescribed for its supposed calming effect on children.

The Internet has over one million posts on the side effects of Ritalin and other psychiatric drugs. For example, the recognized short term side effects of one of these drugs, are insomnia, disturbances of digestion, dizziness, headaches, skin irritations, weight loss, psychotic episodes, with severe depression upon withdrawal of the medication. Its predictable long term side effects can include malnutrition through loss of appetite, tremors, convulsions, headache, irregularities of heart and lungs, paranoia, hallucinations and sensory distortions.

We realize it is time to face these issues as now, as it is admitted by medical experts that medicine prescribed for certain mental symptoms is often the cause of intensification of the symptoms and is commonly associated with additional and often long term health problems.

Why do we ever allow this ‘medication’ to be given to our children? There is no logical explanation for a system of medication to endure that offers no real cure and has the effrontery to create additional diseases to the original symptoms and condition.

Many psychiatrists are working to address the over-prescribing of drugs for children. “In the area of child psychiatry in particular, we know much less than we should, and we desperately need research that is not influenced by industry money,” says Dr E. Fuller Torrey of the Stanley Medical Research Institute.

In Australia, too, the relationship between pharmaceutical companies and doctors is now being questioned increasingly.
